Executive Summary
The research was conducted in summer of 2024, reaching 100 sustainability managers out of a total pool of 180 identified on LinkedIn at the time. Why LinkedIn? It provides an accessible pool of nearly all 🇱🇹 Lithuanian sustainability professionals across various industries.
Goals
- To understand the roles and influence of sustainability professionals in their respective private companies.
- To identify both the challenges they face and the enablers of their work.
- To explore the valuable characteristics of sustainability professionals in shaping and advancing their companies' Corporate Sustainability Culture (CSC).
Instrument
The research utilized a digital survey comprising:
- Validation and demographic questions
- Inquiries on corporate sustainability culture and its implementation
- Questions about sustainability in Lithuania, sustainability managers' goals & roles, and enablers & barriers

Sample
The study focused on sustainability professionals in private (for-profit) Lithuanian companies. Here's a breakdown of who participated (excl. unvalidated respondents):
- Gender: 75 female (78.9%), 18 male (18.9%) & 2 other
- Experience: 13 respondents with <1 year of experience in the sector (13.7%), 57 - between 1 & 5 years of experience (60%) and 25 - >5 years of experience (26.3%)
- Degree in sustainability: 41 respondent has one (43.2%), while 54 doesn’t (56.8%)
- Organisational hierarchy: 10 respondents at a junior level (10.5%), 31 - at a mid-level (32.6%), 24 - at a senior level (25.3%) and 30 - at a C-level (31.6%)
